Anni Rossi Promo

Another day another promo to report on. This time from Anni Rossi who hails from Minnesota USA. This is the Afton mini album released 20-10-2008 on 4AD. This is actually a collection of previously released  songs found on both her myspace page and a few singles. This particular promo is a bit different to those of recent times. It comes in the usual plastic wallet with art work front and back. The front art is the same as the commecial release while the back is black and white only with her name, record title and listing of the songs. The footer is a black strip with text stating it is for promotional use only. What is really diffent is the disc itself. Here we ar treated to a properly printed CD-R showing the 25th anniversary logo encrusted with the yellow lichen. The CD-R just states 'promotional use only- not for sale and has the normal 4AD logo. My copy is some what spoilt by the Anni Rossi sticker splashed onto the CD-R surface. But never mind....There is no catalogue number on this release. This can be found with an additional promo info sheet.

  1. Machine
  2. Venice
  3. Ecology
  4. West Coast
  5. Wheelpusher
  6. Central Utah

Three Women - Stereolab promo

One that slipped under the radar until recently. This is a bit of a strange one as it was released around the time that the label and Beggars generally were under going their compaction. So as far as I know, the song was still released on Too Pure (PURE 228DL) as a digital file only. So again the only physical release of this track is the promo. The promo is released under the 4AD label though! The CD come is the ever present plastic wallet with artwork. The disc is a CD-R which is printed in white. It has Stereolab printed in large letters, the track name and the 4AD logo along with promo only text. It just has a single track.

Golden Age - TV on the Radio

The first release from the latest TV on the Radio album 'Dear Science' is Golden Age. Sadly this is just a digital release, no 7" or CD available to buy. However, the promo comes to our rescue and this is the only physical source for this song. As ever, this promo comes in the ubiquitous plastic wallet with a single sided piece of artwork. The CD itself is a single track CD-R. This has the track and band name, 4AD logo and promo only text. No cat number is present on either the CD or the artwork.

Breeders Mountain Battles Promo

Finally got hold of a copy of the latest Breeders album promo. This comes in the generic promo sleeve first seen last year. Unfortunately my copy comes with a plugging sticker plastered on the front which spoils it a bit, but never mind!

The promo has the same tracks and in the same order as on the commercial release. The CD itself is a CD-R, which has the bands name, album title and promo blah on the silver disc. No cat number is printed on the CD but the cover has the code CAD 2803WMCD (one of the early watermarked copies). Tracks are:

  1.  Overglazed
  2. Bang On
  3. Night of Joy
  4. We're Gonna Rise
  5. German Studies
  6. Spark
  7. Istanbul
  8. Walk It Off
  9. Regalame Esta Noche
  10. Here No More
  11. No Way
  12. It's The Love
  13. Mountain Battles

It Hugs Back - Work Day

The two track CD-R promo from It Hugs Back comes in a plastic wallet with front and back artwork. I presume its the same as the 7" release. The CD-R does not have a catalogue number but does have the tracks printed onto the white CD front. Tracks are:

  1. Work Day
  2. Take Part
The band have also made a video for the record.
