• Friends Function: At the top of the page you can now see which of your friends are online and if you have any new messages from them. If you go to the 'Friends' page you will also be able to see all of the latest posts from your friends making it much easier to keep up with people.

• New Entry Layout: When you make a new entry it's now very easy to insert media such as videos, images and youTube clips. You can do all of this on one page without needing pop-up windows or to go to other sections of the site. We wanted to make it quick and easy to make entries with everything at your fingertips.

• Post Tagging: This is a feature we've had a lot of requests for, you can now add tags to your post so that people in the community can easily find your entries on various subjects. It's a great way of organising things and can let you call up all related posts with just one click.

• Extended Profiles: You can now add things you like to your extended profile and then see which other users share those interests, it's a great way to meet like minded bloggers.

• New Spam Filter - You won't need to enter the word shown in the anti-spam image every times. We have a great new anti-spam mechanism to make it possible to stop spam without the need for the captcha letters.

• Insert Videos and Last.fm to your sidebar: You can now easily add auto-playing youTube videos or the last.fm player, which plays music from your favourite artists, to your blogs sidebar.

For anyone who missed it please see below about the outages to the sight over the past few days.  It is, I can assure you nothing to do with the changes that I spoke of here.

I'm sorry about the problems we've had this week, but can assure you that the technical team were working round the clock to find a solution for them.

Please could I again reassure everyone that when we do implement the changes to the system it will be a smooth transition with no data loss and no changes to the layout of your blogs. 

We're very, very sorry about the problems with the site this past week, they were caused by some Chinese hosts and telecoms companies trying to block us.  I'm sorry that the site was not back online quicker, but it was an entirely unexpected problem and has taken some hard work by the techs to figure out.

One of these days, not too far from now, you're all going to click on 20six.co.uk to get your daily dose of blogging and you'll probably notice that it looks a little different. 

Yes, the site will be getting a long overdue relaunch soon, possibly this weekend if all runs smoothly.  There will be no effects for your actual blogs contents or appearance they'll all still be there and running as normal, but the admin side will be changing.  

We'll have a new look and some new features soon, so keep your eyes peeled!
