Digital'less

I'm feeling quite digital'less. It's been over a yearn now since I've been without a mobile phone and really, it's starting to get to me. I think I've been very good with the waiting, considering the fact, I'm not really a patient person to begin with but this has gone on too far.

To make a long story short - I applied for a mobile phone contract in a mall venue last Thursday and it is now almost 6 days and no phone. NO phone because the contract entails two contracts. I was approved for one contract with T-Mobile's Web n' Walk plan and still waiting for approval from the other contract whatever you call it company. It behooves me to think that a large company such as T-Mobile approved me ans some little ass company is taking their sweet time. Augh.. the trials and tribulations of a foreigner in Germany.

One Year in Frankfurt

I can't believe I wandered into this old place. Old because it was my very first blog. It was also the platform that I met so many wonderful people that have provided support for one another through the years.

I am happy to say, despite my change of location I have still managed to keep in touch with most of those that I have met through 20six.

I am smiling now. I've come a long way from blogging to creating my own websites using content management systems. Since I have other sites that I am working on and need to update it (it's such a challenge) I need to promise myself that I must always remember to come here often and well, just be my self.

When 20six revamped its look a few years ago, a lot of people left and went to find new homes on other blog sites. Many of us lost the incentive to re-start our existing blogs and tailor it to the new platform.

I just looked at my images and they are all still there. I cannot remember which posts they belong to and even if I spent the time fixing it up - it would just take too long. Maybe I will little by little.

Since this is my very first blog I really need to keep it.

Perhaps I'll change the layout since I've graduated from amateur to past amateur.

For any of you that have happened to visit just because, you can find me up and running full throttle on digitalfemme.eu.

I miss everyone. Let's all keep in touch.

DF UPDATE: August 12

I must apologize for the lack of blogging here on 20six. It my fault of course, as AGAIN, I had started another df blog and am trying to blog on that one - regularly.

I had decided to create another blog because I felt it more fitting to my current situation, thus naming it "Digital Femme In Europe". Please feel free to bookmark that site and visit me there if I have not posted on here.

My current status is still tourist. I got another 3 months extension that expires Nov 2 of this year. I had put in an application a week and a half ago for a Freelance Work Permit and I still have to wait 6 - 8 weeks for the VERDICT.

I am still a little homesick every now and then and I am aware that this is of course natural. I love it here in Frankfurt and can see myself making a life here for a few years. Of course, I want to visit most of Europe. If I had the chance to live in France, England or Italy - then I would - but Germany was my point of contact with Europe - so here is where I will stay for awhile, unless I am told otherwise.

I am currently jobless, YET working diligently with my partner to start up our business in Second Life.

We believe that the 3D platform that Second Life currently offers IS IN FACT the New Media of today. Just like how it was in the mid '90's when the internet started becoming mainstream - this is IT. The new paradigm shift.

Since it is still fairly new - and oddly strange to many that anyone would want to have a corporate presence in Second Life - it is not that strange to companies like IBM, Reuters, Mercedes, Harvard University etc.

PLEASE - visit the site I have created that explains what Second Life can DO FOR YOU! The site is called, "MEET ME IN SECOND LIFE".

I would love to personally take you on a tour in Second Life. Just go to the "MEET ME IN SECOND LIFE" site and contact me, my avatar or use the contact link to get in touch with me. OR just tell me here in the comment field.

I hope to hear from my 20six friends soon. My goal is to get a large piece of land for all of us (you would need to rent or buy a space though) and we can all dance, have coffee, listen to live music or sit in my living room and watch a DVD together in Second Life. This really would be something.

I hope all of your are keeping well.

Love always,

df

Hmmmm ... I could be back in Toronto, Canada, I could be in Houston, Texas, or I could be back in the arpmit, McAllen .. ummm, no, scratch McAllen, there are not enough noisy trucks or Mexicans roaming around here in Frankfurt - so scratch the McAllen part. But yes, Frankfurt, after being here for almost a month on June 8 is starting to seem pretty much like anywhere else.

The differences are less and less as each day goes by and as my being starts to absorb the energies that are around me. My tourist, "WOW, I am in Europe" mode is starting to subside and I am slowly starting to REALLY REALLY feel like this IS my HOME.

The streets seem more familiar. I recognize the cracks on the sidewalks and the wonderrful graffitti on the walls.

Also, I am starting to notice the same people! The same one at tthe grocery store, the same ones at the market or the same ones that I pass on the street - any street nearby.

Marcus took me to the Main Train Station of Frankfurt and I loved the energy inside! It was filled with people of all languages, hurrying around. I wondered why the French Flag was hanging from all over the ceiling? And then I caught a large digital image of the Eifel Tower! YAY! I am next to France!

Currently, I am sitting on the bed, reading blogs, blogging, and will soon continue working on the Summer Edition of the 1st TOUCH 3D online magazine. I still need to do the 'one-on-one' approach to my friends in Second Life - getting them to submit content for the magazine. So far I have 7 confirmed and 1 maybe. Now I just need to get others to place ads!

Finding Artwork is not a problem. There are hundreds of Real Life artists in Second Life that LOVE to show their work in whatever medium.

Mmmm.. I do love my new home. I am sitting in the sun that shines thru the window - and I am enjoying the warm feeling on my skin.

I will send my LOVE across the Atlantic to those I left behind, as well as to my dear friends in Europe - that are closer to me now. I should think that they will receive my LOVE first, as they are closer in distance .. OR .... maybe everyone receives it the same time no matter what the distance?  What do you think?

I arrived in Frankfurt am Main, Germany on Tuesday May 8, 2007. It's been 23 days since I've been here, 8 days and it'll be a month.

Oneday, if I feel like it, I might write about how I came to leave a life I had in Houston, TX and come to Germany. I've beeen trying to, or attempting to write about it however, I would always get side tracked or ..... or. There is always an 'or' isn't there?

I have still to obtain a Residence Permit. Tomorrow I will go. I will wake up early and hopefully arrive when the office opens up at 7:30am. *Oh gawd!* Once I get a residence permit, (if they issue me one) I will proceed to obtain a 'work permit'. It would be nice to be sponsored by a company, I only applied to 2 legit companies, legit being, "legitimately possible for me to work only speaking English". Yes, I still have to learn German. At  this stage I am wonderring if I will EVER get to speak  German. The language is different from the Spanish I had to learn while in Texas.

I miss home. Once in awhile. Every now and then I will have flashbacks of the things and the people I have left behind and silently I sigh. I do not regret the move. I am very happy to be here. Actually, I am starting my life over. Hmmm.. can one really start a life? I mean, I'm already living .... and a move, even if it is across the Atlantic Ocean doesn't necessarily warrant one to 'start a new life' - perhaps a new ...  a new ... perspective?

Whatever the case, my previous entry was about 're-creating a life' and that is what I intend to do here. Not necessarily make it better, but make it more beautiful - by being more aware of every moment that I exist.

I started this practice years ago ... but had in the recent past, felt I had strayed away for some reason. Probably it was the night shift.

Here in Frankfurt my rhythm is now in accordance with the sun and moon. Meaning, I sleep while the moon shines its' light and I awake with the sun. This is good. This is very, very good. I also walk. I walk everywhere. Everywhere I walk. It costs 2 Euro one way and right now, with limited or next to none funds, 2 Euro is one bag of potatoes!

The nice thing is, I have recently found out that I really, really love potatoes and have been wondering why I have not eaten more of these tasteful and filling spuds in the past?!

There is no television where I am staying. This is also very good. Instead, I listen to music. I either listen to music, cook, walk to buy groceries, or just walk and sight-see. The days are not borinng without television. How can the days be boring when there is so much to see outside. For this I am lucky.

For now, this is all I will say about my days in Frankfurt. I will of course write more ... there is a lot to tell.

Creating a Beautiful Life ...

One day I looked in the mirror of my soul and saw that the canvas of my heart had an unfinished painting ....

 I took a step back ...

let out a deep sigh ...

dipped my paintbrush into 'green' ...

 and started ....

All over again, I paint a path thru 'green pastures' as I walk bravely onward .. creating a beautiful life.
